For Teachers

Hillsboro Area OMTA welcomes anyone actively engaged in music education.

We are constantly working toward our OMTA goal of “Musical growth for all.” Our members are independent music teachers, collaborative musicians and college faculty.

Meetings

Calling on a roster of outstanding presenters with a variety of topics, you will find our programs inspiring and come away excited to share new ideas with your students. Meeting with local teachers connects you with fellow professionals with whom you can share successes and challenges, trade teaching tips, and refer students. Our 2024-2025 meetings will be held on 2nd Wednesday mornings (10:00-11:30) in September, November, January, March and 1st Wednesday of June (see Calendar for more details).

Student Events

Our members work together to provide regular recital performance opportunities with West Side Recitals held in October, December, May and August each year. The Westside Ribbon Festival, first held in 2020, features solo or ensemble student performances. OMTA’s well-rounded and thorough Syllabus Evaluation program provides a structured path for dependable musical growth.

OMTA and MTNA

OMTA Teachers have the opportunity to attend state and national conferences where they can learn from a host of dynamic and successful educators, performers and coaches. OMTA members are welcome to attend district programs throughout the state, whether in-person or virtually when available. MTNA offers regular webinars on a variety of topics, and print and web publications with scholarly and pedagogical articles.
